Fundraising doesn’t just have to be through your social media, group chats or by email. Hosting an event is the perfect platform to share your reason for hiking for healthy hearts and will help you raise money for your life-changing adventure.
You can turn your next girl's night out into a meaningful event, raising money to help fund life-saving heart research, just like Tara did in honour of her late husband Shane.
Last year Tara and her support crew not only became Heart Heroes by raising over $16,000 for the Heart Foundation, but they also hiked 20 km at Coastrek Fleurieu Peninsula which is no easy feat! An amazing accomplishment on both counts.
You might be thinking, how did they do it? They brought their support crew together and hosted what Tara named and described as a "Fun Night Out"!
The Fun Night Out event was a huge success, with guest speakers talking about heart health and Tara inspiring everyone by bravely sharing her husband's heart story who sadly she lost to a heart attack 12 years ago.
From games, a silent auction and a raffle the Celebrating 4-0 Shane teams hosted a fabulous night at the local winery enjoying woodfire pizza and the support of amazing friends and family. This event not only provided Tara with the support she needed to take on this life-changing challenge, but it was also an opportunity to celebrate and remember Shane.
“Shane turned 40 the week before we undertake Coastrek Fleurieu Peninsula, so this has been a fabulous way to bring together my amazing support crew, who are all walking with me, remember Shane and celebrate his birthday, not to mention raise money for such a fabulous organisation!”
Tara hopes to inspire others to reach their fundraising goal and raise funds to help improve the heart health of all Australians.
