Coastrek and Beyond Blue team up to help everyone in Australia achieve their best possible mental health
In 2025, Coastrek will be hiking for mental health combining the benefits of exercising in nature and fundraising for Beyond Blue.
Coastrek and Beyond Blue have a shared vision to help all Australians achieve their best possible mental health. Through our 12-week training program and national series of team hiking events, Coastrek can play a vital role in managing anxiety and depression and improve mental, physical, and social wellbeing, while helping to raise funds for the Beyond Blue 2/7 Support Service.
Did you know?
- In Australia, around 5 million people are living with anxiety or depression. Beyond Blue recognises the need to support people before mental health issues arise or reach crisis, helping them to feel better earlier, get well and stay well.
- More than 750 people reach out to the Beyond Blue 24/7 Support Service every day – that’s over 275,000 life-changing conversations every year.
- Women experience the highest levels of anxiety and depression in Australia: 1 in 3 are likely to experience anxiety and 1 in 5 are likely to experience depression in their lifetime. While women are more impacted by anxiety and depression, they have a greater tendency to seek help – both for themselves and others.
- Anxiety and depression rates are found to be lower in men (1 in 6 are likely to experience anxiety and 1 in 8 will likely experience depression in their lifetime), however, men are less likely to seek help, leading to declining mental health.
- Half of all mental health conditions develop by age 14. Mental health issues among young people aged 16 to 24 have increased by nearly 50 per cent in the last 15 years. Almost 1 in 2 young women experience a mental health condition compared to 1 in 3 young men.
