Caitie Moncur is back for her fourth Coastrek – this time as a Coastrek Ambassador!
A love of the outdoors, a deep understanding of the benefits of being in nature and time with friends is what keeps Caitie coming back - and this is exactly what Coastrek is all about:
“Coastrek offers an opportunity to challenge yourself physically and mentally, whilst immersed in the natural environment with likeminded people. It gives motivation to train for an achievable goal and share the experience with other strong and inspirational women (and a few men!) whilst raising funds and awareness for an important charity. I am drawn back every year for the great sense of camaraderie, achievement and of course, the stunning scenery.”
Not one to do things by halves, Caitie and her team will be taking on the 50km event on the Mornington Peninsula.
Catie developed a deep sense of connection to the environment growing up on a farm in Gippsland, and regularly travelling to remote parts of Australia with her family. A sense of adventure and wonder for the natural environment was instilled in her at an early age.
She now lives and breathes the outdoors in her role as an outdoor education teacher at Somers School Camp, a residential outdoor school on the Mornington Peninsula.
She is passionate about providing opportunities for children to challenge themselves physically and emotionally in the outdoors. She is also a Mum of two young children and hopes to instil in them a love of the natural environment and a sense of wonder and adventure.
In her spare time, you will find Caitie hiking, swimming, SUP-ing or just enjoying the outdoors with her family.
